Wine Seminar: Trapiche Wines
Attended a great wine seminar for breast cancer awareness? I'm always willing to drink for a cause.
Trapiche Broquel Torrontes $15.60
This indigenous grape has a great and strong nose. It has an acidic smell, freshness to the whiff and would be great with seafood. It's a bit short on flavor and tastes flat after a few minutes. *
Trapiche Oak Cask Chardonnay $9.99
This wine stinks a bit like rot! Tastes like butter, tho. It does not have a sting to it, reminds me of pineapple and has great legs. * 1/2
Trapiche Broquel Malbec $12.99
Hand harvested grapes, originally transplanted from Southern France, this grape put Argentina on the map. It stays 15 months in oak, has earthy tones, a long finish and a wondefully strong berry flavor. With no RS, it's delicious. I can feel the wine when I breathe. *** 1/2
Trapiche Oak Cask Malbec $8.99
A very smokey wine. It's a little jammy with vanilla overtones, earthy aroma. It's a great burger wine. It stings and fills the nose. There is no RS. **
Trapiche Broquel Cabernet Sauvignon $11.99
Made of 100% cab grapes, it's 100% estate grown. After hand sorting, it's made in small vats. Good with pasta. It definitely opens up in the glass quickly. It has a great nose, with berries and fruity aroma. ***
Trapiche Oak Cask Cabernet Sauvignon $9.99
Good with ribs/roasts! Maybe lobster? It's a lite nose, very very lite.. almost watery. It's better with airation, and tastes cheap. * 1/2
Trapiche Malbec Escbar Fausto Overllande 2007 $48.99
Amazing and full raspberry, fruit front. It's has strong legs. Delicious! It has a bit of sediment from it's age. The aroma goes right up the nose! ***
It was a great seminar. Argentina was settled in 1557 by the Spaniards. Broquel is considered the "premium level" wine. Malbec has been grown in Argentina since the 1800's. Wine = FFFF (Family, Friends, Food, Fun)
