Memorial Day Weekend
I ended up doing at least five BBQ/picnics this weekend, went out for drinks/eats, and so much more. This weekend was unbelievably fun... I wish every weekend was just like it. They say Memorial Day is the official start of summer. If that is true, then my god, Summer is rocking it out already.
Saturday, I headed to Pittsword and watched the crew teams race in the official canal crew race trials.. very impressive, and fun.. and sunny! Took a nice, long walk down the canal path..
Had a lovely.. LOVELY lunch at Alladins right on the canal. Caught up with a friend on politics, job searches, life, happiness.. the usual quandaries of our lives.
Decided to hit up the store for some wine! I saw they were tasting 12 different wines at Century.. and I stopped in. Had a lovely little cheese/wine spread going, and I ended up buying SIX wines.
Late Friday night, I hit up the town, and toured the East End trying out different bars, and listening to bands with a birthday crowd. We had met up at Salinas, and then drank our night away. Had a ton of fun, and met a whole bunch new people!
Late night skeevy bars and skeevy people... so much fun! Street meat!
Went to a lovely BBQ dinner party at Sara & Bens. Met up with the old friends, enjoyed long conversations out on the deck, drank Sangria, enjoyed the night air, and had a lovely dinner.
Everything Sara makes is gourmet... super impressive, and way.. way beyond my level. I didn't even bring out my rinkity drink mac salad. Too much good food on the table!
I spent Saturday morning shopping at the Outlet Mall (dropped a couple hundreds in the course of 1 hour? love every piece, too... new JCrew polos!), and then visited with my family's at their bbq celebration for a few hours...
Hung around the Yudelsons for the afternoon/evening, had some lovely grub, visited their 50 kids it seemed, caught up, talked up the multi-generational family, and just loved every minute of it.
After staying there for several hours, we met up with a group of people that I found incredibly interesting and dynamic. I very much enjoyed spending (and drinking) much time with them over the course of several hours. Late into the night (hence odd tweets at 7am) capped off this wonderful weekend.. you have NO idea. I'm exhausted, but loved every frickin second. Really.
