Never ending story

I have been sick for quite some time now. It's sucked. A lot. It started last Saturday, and it had me down for the count by Tuesday, but I struggled through work and it's finally getting better. Alas, I've been sick a lot lately, but I'm hoping by next week, on my vacation to the Bahamas, I will be all well again.
As you can see from the baby chickens above, my mother bought some chickens to raise at her place. It sounds like she misses chickens for some reason, so she got a couple dozen of them, and even a couple black roosters in the mix. The black ones are hilarious, and far too easy for stereotyping. But it was a treat holding them in my hands again. So cute.
My life has been extremely slow/boring as of late. I've basically struggled to get through the day, and then would go home and collapse into bed/couch for the evening. I stopped by CVS and cleared out their cold/flu section.. hilariously. I felt like a teenager buying huffing supplies. But the good thing is, it helped.. and my god, after 4 hours, I was like an addict... I needed my next fix. I'd wake up and have to take 6+ pills.. plus my usual vitamins. Who am I? My grandmother? So sad.
I plan to take my laptop this time on vacation, so you'll be able to see what's what every day on my cruise. We're headed to DC on Saturday to check out the local sites, and then leaving out of Baltimore on Sunday. We'll be headed south to Florida, and then to Nassau and Freeport. Should be a blast, and I can't wait to get in the sun for days on end. I just can't wait to be IN THE SUN and WARM. It's sucked having the chills and headaches.. and snot... and blah.
Oh man oh man.

Roof is done.... $15k less rich
So the work is now done on the roof. I got a call from the supervisor at my house at 9:30a this morning telling me to come home to making some decisions. Seems "decisions" meant signing off on another grand of flashing work.
But it all looks amazing, and I love the colors, and they did a great job. Now to swallow writing that $15k check tomorrow. *gulp*

2009 Easter Egg Hunt
As we do every year, my family had our annual Easter Egg Hunt. I calmed down a bit this year, but it was still fun, and amazing as always. Plus the food was perfect!
And although shorter than last year, a bit of video from the hunt.. when everyone had given up and were going inside, some of us continued....! ;)
Always a good time.

Tears of Fear
I don't watch A.I., but it ran late and into my recording of Fringe. However, I was captivated by the rendition of the song Mad World by Tears of Fear. Amazing.

Weekend at Sean's
I had a road trip to D.C. this weekend... if you couldn't tell. I left on Friday right after work, and headed south through that awful corridor in PA called "porn alley" aka route 15. But with Route 99 almost complete, it's an easy drive, and with enough mix CDs and music from artists I love, the 6-7 hours flies by.. especially when you have a routine of pit stops and enough fun food/drink in the car to keep you going.
But getting to the Osborne house, and seeing baby Sean, and spending a whole weekend with my favorite family trio was really great.
On Saturday, the four of us packed it in (quite literally with a baby seat and me sharing the back seat of a civic), and headed to the National Mall to enjoy a sunny day, the Cherry Blossoms, an awesome lunch at the Native American Smithsonian museum, and a walk through the Botanical Gardens. The day was really quite perfect, I got a bit of sun on my face, and Sean was a trooper in his Bjorn.
Laura and Luke treated me to this great meal at Southside 815, a cool Southern BBQ style place with great sandwiches, ribs, etc, etc. I envy the great restaurants that Alexandria has, but I probably would end up eating in as much as I do now. But then again, it really depends on the social circles you run in.
On Sunday, Laura and I walked along the Potomac River while LukeO mowed/seeded/watered/weeded the lawn. He's very manly... ripping down gutters, greasing the lawnmower, ripping down drywall, refitting broken copper pipes... and this before I woke up! We even dropped by Coldstone, got some ice cream, enjoyed the warm Spring day, and did a little shopping. All in all.. the perfect weekend. It never gets complicated with Laura. Pure fun.
It was quite funny. I loved hanging out with them. They always make me feel welcome and a part of what they're doing. Envy has a way of kicking in, until the baby needs to get up 3 times a night. But getting on the road was hard, especially after Laura handed me Sean. Who can say "I'm outta here!" to a smiling baby that just thinks the world of everything you say to him? He's a perfect little man, and I can't wait to see him grow up. But not too fast. He's amazing as he is.

go by oh so slow
I listened to these guys, one of my favorite bands, on my recent road trip. By far, these guys made me smile the most. I love their lyrics.

I'm moving (on up)!

I was just offered and accepted a $112k job position in New York City! I'll be moving at the end of April to start May 1st with a great position as a Financial Business Analyst with The Bachrach Group. How exciting! And to make matters better, I'm in the final preparations for signing a long-term tenant for my house in Rochester. Sweet. Now all that's left is to break the news to everyone....
April Fools. ;)
