Caribbean Vacation - Day 9 (Miami)

We awoke for the sunrise and a (un)pleasant surprise... Miami out our window. Early to rise, we got breakfast and shuttled down to the lounge for our early debarkation. We already sent our bags away last night (packing my toothbrush, oops!) and had an excursion to South Beach.

We did this little art deco tour of South Beach. It's not as lovely as I would have imagined. The SB Diet always made the place sound glamorous and special.. but no, not really. Got to see Star Island, which was nice.

The bus tour dropped us off on a strip of stores and the beach for 3 hours for us to explore. We walked down to the water, went in a couple dozen stores, did some shopping, got something to drink, some ice cream.. and just enjoyed a little break.

Above is their Holocaust memorial. Kinda scary but still humbling. A quirky little area.. everyone was so tanned and wearing little to no clothes. Too warm for my tastes.. but it seemed like a nice enough area. To visit. For a day.

But we made our way to the airport, took a couple planes, and ended up in Rochester by 9pm. A long day of travel... exhausted. I visited the Massey's as soon as I got home, and the Bell's were there. A long enjoyable week. Of sunsets and sunrises. Of monkeys and salt water. Of too much food and not enough sun. Bliss.
