A YouYou Is Born

Taking a cue from Eric, I am going to attempt to do my first YouYou, which is sorta the opposite of a MeMe. The point is to say things about/to people you know in real life (non-bloggers) and give a glimpse into who you are in the process. Some will be easy to figure out, others not so much. I just realized some of these are negative. And I realized after after the fact that I was approaching this more like a 'post secret' YouYou. I apologize ahead of time. And not every entry represents someone different nor is everyone I know included in this list.
1.) I hated you in high school. In fact, you're the only person I think I've ever hated. And that's saying a lot, I think.
2.) I have never ever lied to you, even a tiny tiny lie, except one. And I regret it every day I see you.
3.) I don't think of you the way someone normally would. You're my friend and I've always considered you as so, even if it makes people think we're too close.
4.) It's none of my business and I wish you never told me. You're 25 years my senior and it changed the way I look at your entire family.
5.) It's not that I can't forgive you for your shortcomings, it's just that you were never important to me and no amount of talk will change that.
6.) I don't understand why you refuse to give me any sign you're alive. We used to be close. What did I do?
7.) You're the person that convinced me that depression is an illness. And you did this by being so self-destructive that I question your sanity.
8.) I love it when you call me just to say hello. Although, it reminds me that I don't do that enough to my own friends.
9.) When we're together, I either want to rip out my hair with frustration or impress you to no end. There never is a middle ground, which I really wanted from the get go.
10.) I can't recall how we became friends. And only one person knows I feel uncomfortable around you.
11.) What I really wanted to say to you, I just erased. I don't think it's something I feel comfortable chancing that you'll read it and realize it's you.
12.) I've never told a soul your secret and I'm sorry if I've ever treated you less than you deserve.
13.) In all honesty, I have to ignore your religious side altogether or else we couldn't be friends. That won't change.
14.) You spend way too much money on other people because you think they'll like you better. It works.
15.) Somehow you make me laugh without trying, every time. And you get my jokes, almost every time. We make a good team.
16.) I suspect your significant other doesn't like me. And somehow I don't blame her/him.
17.) You're a lot tougher than I ever thought you were. I hope one day you believe in yourself. I do love you.
18.) I don't understand the games you play on a week to week basis with people's heads. And for awhile, I cared enough to get played by you. It won't happen again.
19.) When you asked me what was wrong and I said nothing, I was lying. I wanted to tell you. But that would have opened up too much to deal with at the time.
20.) If you have to ask why we don't talk often, perhaps you should remember what you did to me when I was 10.
Phew! Man that was kinda fun. Somehow I feel better, even if I didn't feel bad before. :) Thanks Eric, for the idea!

Had fun today. Went home to celebrate a birthday party, fiesta style. The entire family came out, including Molly's new boyfriend Jim. A very nice guy.

My cute mother... :)
And a very lovely cake to boot. A bit of happiness in a weekend of sorrow.

This Never Happened Before
"This Never Happened Before"
Paul McCartney
I'm very sure, this never happened to me before
I met you and now I'm sure
This never happened before
Now I see, this is the way it's supposed to be
I met you and now I see
This is the way it should be
This is the way it should be, for lovers
They shouldn't go it alone
It's not so good when your on your own
So come to me, now we can be what we want to be
I love you and now I see
This is the way it should be
This is the way it should be
This is the way it should be, for lovers
They shouldn't go it alone
It's not so good when your on your own
I'm very sure, this never happened to me before
I met you and now I'm sure
This never happened before
This never happened before
This never happened before
This never happened before

Drowning in snow...
Games tonight, but with a new set of folks. Gonna try a change.

Something out of place here...

This isn't fair. Last Friday, on a wonderfully normal day with normal weather, we were told not to go to work due to a fire in my building at 5:30am. Today, with whipping winds and ...A HEAVY SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT
Why can't we have a fire on a day when the weather is miserable and it takes me twice as long to get into work? Or when we already have 1/2 the office out due to the weather?
UNTIL 5 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON.
SNOW WILL CONTINUE INTO THIS AFTERNOON...HEAVY
AT TIMES...THEN TAPER OFF LATER IN THE DAY.
ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES
ARE LIKELY...BRINGING STORM TOTALS INTO THE 8
TO 14 INCH RANGE. EVEN HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE
POSSIBLE NEAR LAKE ONTARIO.
NORTHERLY WINDS GUSTING OVER 30 MPH WILL CAUSE
CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. THIS
WILL GREATLY IMPACT TRAVEL ACROSS THE REGION.
WIND CHILLS WILL BE NEAR ZERO TO 10 BELOW.

Laser tag and 9 hour party
After that, every game we played ended up being a spin off of the werewolf theme with Scategories turning into a rousing game of voting down the people with oddball answers. While getting late, we also split up and played two different games with my group playing Citadels, which is a challenging game of empire building based on chosen character genres and sniping at your opponents. It's a simple game and one that is incredibly entertaining as you build cards that force other players to do things they don't want to do. Almost everyone had left by that point and I stayed behind with Seth, Kelly and Josh. Finally I left around 12:30 and enjoyed every minute of the day.

Summary in 450 words or less...

Hey, hello there. I've had about 200 visits and 10 days since my last post and I apologize. Between work and school, I've just been swamped. But not enough to fit in a bit of fun. I just need to get into the habit of making time a few minutes a day for this here blog.
I don't know what the weather is like where you are, but it has been insane here the last 10 days. Starting out at the pink party last weekend and nonstop until yesterday. Even today has been fracking cold. We had white out conditions on Saturday for 2 hours. I was at the store picking up some beer when I heard loud booms. Explosion? Snow collapse of a building? Either way, I didn't want to find out. But I got home (with beer) and the radio reported extremely heavy snow (no duh) with thunder. Thundersnow? Wow. Nobody believed me, but I was happy just making it home.
I had already made plans last week to go to a Super Bowl party. Prime Rib and the like. I was excited since last year's party was more fizzle than excitizle. But Wednesday my sister reported that her friends and boyfriend were going to come to my house Sunday night, party or not. Oh. Hmm. Then I asked Jake during game night, and Seth also expressed interest. So tada, I had a party with 15 people over last night. At the last minute. I went shopping (during thundersnow) for over $110 worth of pizza, snacks, beers, drinks and desserts. $112.52 to be exact.
But I guesstimate I have about $48.10 worth of leftovers, since I have 12 bottles of beer, 3 bags of open chips, 1/2 cheese pizza, 1/2 pepperoni pizza and enough hummus and chicken taquitos to feed a family. Plus some chili and a helping of my chocolate trifle are left. So this week should be fun and unhealthy. But last night's party turned out really well! I didn't have enough chairs at all, and my one chair collapsed and broke.
Hmm, what else?
Classes are OK. Too much homework. Graduation in 6 months. Taxes not done yet. Plane tickets purchased. No time for photography. Too cold to be outside. Bike riding is rough right now. Upcoming meeting presentation with big-ass committee. Dinner party Wednesday. Mom is coming up to visit Thursday. Another party on Saturday (with laser tag!) so hopefully this week will go by fast. Oh, and my bosses wanted to know when I plan to leave. I guess that means I need to start a job search for post-graduation? Sigh.
